Fertility – It Takes Two…

Fertility: Leading a Healthy Lifestyle and Knowing Your Stats

Women generally are seen at Alternative Medicine Clinics far more than men and the reason for this can be many.

One important factor does show up and that is that most couples believe it is the woman’s body at fault, leading to fertility problems.

Unfortunately this is not always the case and male sperm has become very low and in some cases there is poor morphology (heads and tails) and poor motility.

“Professor Niels Skakkebaek of the University of Copenhagen presented data indicating sperm counts had fallen by about a half over the past 50 years. Sperm counts in the 1940s were typically well above 100m sperm cells per millilitre, but Professor Skakkebaek found they have dropped to an average of about 60m per ml. Other studies found that between 15 and 20 per cent of young men now find themselves with sperm counts of less than 20m per ml, which is technically defined as abnormal. In contrast, a dairy bull has a viable sperm count in the billions.”

Women can go to great lengths to help with their fertility by giving up alcohol and move towards a healthy lifestyle.

Men on the other can hand fall behind if they are not pursuing advice and support to instigate their role to stop drinking, smoking and eating healthier.

It takes two to make a baby so sperm are just as important.

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine are hugely advantageous in helping restore the body to its maximum state”

To make a new life requires both parents to be healthy. This will give the baby its constitution for the rest of its life.

Food and drink is all we have to not only repair our bodies but to grow a baby. So every effort should be made by the parents to be as healthy as possible.

Older parents are already at a disadvantage because their eggs and sperm are ageing considerably.

For example a young woman in her early twenties can produce approximately 22 eggs on a round of IVF by the time she is 35 that number has dropped to just over 6+ and by the time she is 40 + it is now 1 or thereabouts.

With these statistics it is easy to see why older women are having so many problems conceiving.

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine are hugely advantageous in helping restore the body to its maximum state thereby giving couples the best possible chance, of either conceiving naturally or assisting with IVF or ICSI.
