Alerted to an increasingly common problem – Hot Flashes and/or Night Sweats (experienced predominantly by women, although not to exclude men) – we aim to help those that are still looking for answers.

Some of us will certainly overheat from time to time, perhaps when the bedroom is overheated or from wearing too many bed clothes. However, true night sweats will usually result in an extreme hot flash, involving severe perspiration and drenching of bed clothes or bedsheets – with very little explanation as to why.

There are of course, certain conditions that they could be symptomatic of: Idiopathic hyperhidrosis, Menopause, a form of Infection, Cancers, hypoglycaemia, neurological  conditions, hormone disorders etc. For this reason, it is  recommended that you see your GP about the issue, to be sure it’s not an indication for something potentially harmful to your health.

However, for those that are left feeling that there is little explanation for excessive over heating and discomfort, there could be something that you have yet to try.

Traditional Chinese Medicine explains one potential cause of Night Sweats to be that of an imbalance in the body, through depletion of your body’s Essence. Naturally, as you age your body loses it’s Essence and with it, comes changes to the balance of both Yin and Yang.

As your Essence depletes, it can become difficult to manage levels of Yang. As the active and warming energy in your body, if Yang goes unchecked, it can result in the symptoms of hot flashes and night sweats.
