Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage

Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD)

Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD) incorporates both reflexology and MLD principles in order to provide a safe and non invasive treatment for those experiencing symptoms of Lymphoedema.

Easing the swelling of lymphoedema, in the extremities (legs and arms), can sometimes be uncomfortable but RLD provides a gentler approach, when the area may feel too swollen or the skin is tender to touch.

What is Lymphoedema?

“Persistent tissue swelling due to blockage or absence of the lymph drainage channels with accumulation of interstitial fluid” (Mortimer 1985)

Charmaine Clarke is qualified as a Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD) practitioner and offers this treatment from our practice.

Results from recent research showed a positive trend and suggests that RLD may be helpful in the management of secondary lymphoedema following treatment for breast cancer. Findings also appear to support the theory of reflexology.

Within Charmaine’s study, it has also been suggested that this form of reflexology could be beneficial for people with certain auto-immune conditions.

If you would like to find out more about RLD or book an initial appointment with Charmaine, please either call Charmaine direct on 07595 044 792 or call us on 01359 408 011.
