The Origin of Yang Family Style Tai Chi

What is Tai Chi Chuan?

A martial art which focuses on relaxing the mind, body and breathing.

Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) is based on slow and rounded movements and generally practiced regularly to maintain good health and wellbeing.

It incorporates meditation, movement and self-awareness; developing an internal sense of energy or strength.

What is the Yang Family Style?

There a number of Tai Chi forms or styles. The traditional Yang family style was founded by Yang Luchan and later developed by his grandson, Yang Chengfu.

Taijiquan is an art in which the slow and relaxed movements contain a strong internal energy as a needle concealed in cotton wool. Yang Chengfu

Movements are steady, upright, rounded and large, with the notion of harnessing the harmony between body and mind.

Where can I learn the Yang Family Style?

We offer two weekly classes:

Martin Fayers - Tai Chi - Woolpit Complementary

Friday mornings
Woolpit Institute at 10am to 11am. Pay as you go. Intermediate class but beginners are welcome.

Wednesday early afternoon
Norton Village Hall – 12.30pm to 1.30pm. Pay as you go. Beginners class.
