I have been trained in CBT since 2008, working for the NHS providing face to face treatment to people experiencing depression and anxiety difficulties. CBT is a talking therapy that has been shown to help a wide range of emotional and physical health conditions. It looks at how we think about situations and how this affects the way we act. In turn, our actions can affect the way we feel and think.
I have more recently trained in EMDR. EMDR is a treatment evidenced to successfully treat PTSD, traumatic memories, phobias, depression, phantom limb pain, chronic pain, grief, low self esteem, panic disorder and medically unexplained symptoms. This works by processing past distressing events, current triggers causing difficulties now and then assisting with future coping/skills.
Psychological therapy is about working together to understand your current difficulties and helping you to bring about positive changes to enable you to reach your goals for the future.
